Pitt offered my daughter $8000 a year a couple of years ago, Rutgers offered $0 (she was offered merit at the 18 OOS schools she applied to). Lawrenceville is a super cute little neighborhood near Pitt (5-10 minute drive), less touristy/commercial than Strip District. Butler Street has independent boutiques and fun restaurants. Enjoy! My daughter is a Pitt junior and we love visiting (from MD) and find new things to do every time.

Excellent recommendations around campus! If you are like me and like to walk right around a campus, you can walk 2 blocks to south craig street for some nice restaurant choices, too. The Carnegie Art Museum and Cafe are across the street from the end of S. Craig Street. I will ad Girasole, though, if venturing to Shadyside. Small, fabulous Italian.
